Decision Science Lab is an engineering firm that connects best decision science engineers
and companies out of Turkey with tech companies in the US. It is managed by Cem Vardar who worked
in US tech companies such as Intel and Carvana in engineering and leadership positions for more than
15 years. Most recently Cem built a highly effective decision science team in Carvana that
developed the logistics optimization systems of Carvana. He also initiated and managed a large scale
supply chain simulation modeling project for Carvana implemented by a Turkish software and
research startup.
Turkey has multiple decision science and industrial engineering schools that act as de-facto
feeder schools for PhD programs in elite engineering and business schools in the US.
It is very common for 50% of top graduates out of these school to end up in US PhD programs.
Some of these engineers go on to become academics in US or Turkey colleges or start working in
tech companies such as Amazon, Facebook, Google.
The talented engineers that stay in Turkey make an amazing resource pool for decision science,
optimization and operations research projects of US tech companies particularly startups.
